Remember what the Lord has done

This week I have been compiling the mission history for the Japan Kobe Mission. These memories are kept on the records of the church. Every 6 weeks, I create a newsletter for the mission. It includes baptism pictures, new missionaries, and returning missionary pictures. It has a message from the president and zone conference summaries. I include things like bicycle safety, 2 week menu ideas, ways to manage stress, ideas for talking to strangers, and even a recipe. These newsletters have dual purpose. They are for the missionaries now but they also serve as a review for what is happening in the mission.

Why Is It Important to Study History?

We are also collecting conversion/baptism stories from the missionaries. It is so inspiring to read the miracles that are occurring in people's lives as they come unto Jesus Christ. I have been collecting these memories over the year so I can have a memory for each person baptized. I can imagine that this will be a treasure to someone many years down the road when they read about those early days of being introduced to the gospel.

I am also organizing photos of the zone conferences that include all the missionaries in the mission. It has been eye opening to see how much the mission has grown. When we arrived in April, 2022 there was 26 missionaries. Most of them were Japanese or from families where one parent was Japanese. By the end of December, 2022 we have 88 missionaries. We are becoming more and more diverse with missionaries from America, Canada, England, Brazil, Australia. Soon we will have missionaries from Thailand, the Philippines, and Fiji. We are so blessed by the richness each missionary brings to the mission.

I have gotten to know the missionaries through serving them with their medical needs. I am surprised that I know most of their names. I love them and feel blessed to be able to serve the Lord with these amazing missionaries.

Why keep a record? It is about remembering what the Lord has done.
