We are getting busy...

Look closely at this picture and you will see two small bridges in this Japanese garden near Himeji castle. We went to Himeji to deliver a bicycle and some supplies to a new missionary. We had to go see the castle because it was a block away.
We stopped at some food stalls and tried some Japanese delicacies. I loved the mochi (pounded rice) and actually the tacoyaki (octopus dumplings). We are seeing a lot of Japan while we serve.
Our lives are getting busy as we are preparing to open apartments for the new missionaries arriving. We expect to double our mission size in just a few months. We are organizing supplies using items that were stored and replacing others that are needed. We are also teaching English to the Japanese missionaries and Fred will be teaching a Japanese refresher course to the reassigned missionaries that are arriving from other countries. We write letters/emails for the Mission President for both the arriving and returning missionaries. We assist with the paper work and receive new missionaries. We have already received 13 missionaries since we arrived. We are giving presentations and participating in others. Our time here will fly by. It has already been a month.
We went to Naruto on our P-day (suppose to mean preparation day, we think it means play day). Naruto are Japan's famous swirling whirlpools that are a natural phenomena of the tide. We rode a large boat out to see the whirlpools. It was a fun day.
Tuesday we walked out of the office at 6:00 pm to hear the drums and bells of this small parade celebrating Golden Week. This is what I love about Japan. There are unexpected surprises just around the corner. I am happy to be a missionary serving the Lord, helping others come to Christ. Jesus Christ is our Savior. He has given everything for us that we might return to God. I can give a little to further His work. I am blessed.

  1. What a beautiful post! While mochi is not even close to being a favorite, nor taco, I'm happy you are happy and busy! Happy Mother's Day. xo

  2. So fun to see the pictures. I showed them to Christian (he served in Kobe 94-96). He actually served on the island and said the whirlpools are awesome. Your talk about the office brings back memory's from when we served in Buenos Aries. Work in the office never stops. Have a wonderful week. Dave left this morning for France and England the next 10 days with our two youngest boys Sightseeing, Golf and Soccer game. I am going to Washington DC Temple open house with my daughter and her family on Saturday. We just returned from Turkey (fun trip) last month. Wheelchairs are still on hold because of the shipping issues in Shanghai. Just sitting on the dock of the bay.lol Hugs
Does your gmail still work so I don't have to go through this public notice?
