Waiting on the Lord

I wouldn't say I have been patiently waiting on the Lord😬

Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.  Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass...Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him; fret not thyself...Psalms 37:4-7

This week Fred suggested that we start counting the blessings we have received because we haven't been able to go to Japan yet.  They are many.  I can't even express how wonderful it is to live around family.  We have been gone for 35 years.  It's nice to be home.

Fred ran a 10K on Pioneer Day, July 24.  This is a race that he ran several times in his younger years.  Fred has always pushed himself to be physically strong and have endurance.  Every week he runs the hill toward the capitol 10 times, up and down.  He also runs up the canyon and back for 9 miles once a week.  His determination and strength has been a blessing throughout our life.

Pioneer Day is a day to remember those who have gone before.  They sacrificed much which prepared the way for our future. It is hard for me to imagine going through the things they went through.  They left the comfort of their homes and their belongings to move to an unknown area.  They toiled and worked to meet even their basic needs.   They faced danger and challenges unimaginable, and lost their family members.  Why did they do it?  For the hope of a better life.  We are the recipients of their faith and fortitude. I am grateful.

To celebrate, there were parades in Spanish Fork and Salt Lake City.  I think this was one of the coolest float that I have seen.  The smoke was coming out the top of the smoke stack and the gears rotated in the back.

The scaffolding on the Salt Lake temple is getting very high.  The church is renovating the temple and preserving history by earthquake protection measures.  What are we doing today that will benefit future generations?

"The huge project to renovate the Salt Lake Temple continues.  From my office I have a front-row seat to watch the work taking place on the temple plaza.

"As I have watched workers dig out old tree roots, plumbing, wiring, and a leaky fountain, I have thought about the need for each of us to remove, with the Savior's help, the old debris in our lives.

"The gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of repentance.  Because the Savior's Atonement, His gospel provides an invitation to keep changing, growing, and becoming more pure.  It is a gospel of hope, healing, and of progress.  Thus, the gospel is a message of joy!  Our spirits rejoice with every small step forward we take."

President Russel M Nelson, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
