Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween!!   I have always loved the Fall.  This Halloween, we enjoyed delicious homemade wheat rolls and cheddar cheese broccoli soup at Mom Dame’s house. Yum!!  Then we went to our daughter’s house for “Trick or Treating”.   Fred dressed up as Batman.  He sat on the front porch saying, “Take one,” in a low, grisly voice.  The children were cautious to approach him and some required their Moms’ to come to the door with them.  One little boy says, “I know you’re not Batman.” Fred just kept saying.  “I’m Batman.” I did not dress up but I was wearing my missionary badge.  One little boy said to me, “I like your costume.”  Only in Utah would they recognize that….   We are approaching 6 months of working in the Church History Library and remotely with Japan.  I see the Lord’s hand in this assignment.  At no other time in my life would I sit for 6 hours a day and read journals.  It has been a blessing to see how the Lord works with people in their lives.  I see the growth of the Ch

What is important to you?

I was able to sing 'Consider the Lilies' at Aunt Sally's funeral. πŸ’™πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ’–πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ’œπŸ’–πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ’–πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ’™   Aunt Sally’s funeral was so filled with love. Love for her and love for others who shared the grief of her death.     She lived her life loving and caring for others. She accepted people for who they are and loved them just the same.     It was evident how we all felt about her by the outpouring of love from friends and family.     It was a joyful time to have all of my brothers here because we rarely see each other. I also saw cousins and relatives I haven’t seen in many, many years.     The beauty of it all was that we are still connected by a bond of love that doesn’t change through time or distance.     What will matter when you come to the end of your life? Some of the things that we fret and worry about really don’t matter.  I think we have all had these moments of reflection in our life that helps us evaluate what is important to you. Take more time in what brings

What happens after we die?

πŸ’” I am so sad to announce that my Aunt Sally Nelson died last night and my Uncle Danny Schultz died 6 days ago. This is my mother's older sister and younger brother.  It is so difficult to lose two siblings in such a short period of time. They both died of medical complications, not  covid related.   My mom has also been super sick which was probably made worse by stress. She is definitely passing through the fire of trials. I told my mother that the Schultz's are having a family dinner in heaven and she has been invited.  She said, "Well, I'm not going." πŸ˜… This leads to many questions... What happens after we die? While we don't know everything, we do know principles of truth through the scriptures and the prophets. Now, concerning the  state  of the soul between  death  and the resurrection—Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body, yea, the spirits of all men, wheth

WHAT'S GOING ON WITH JAPAN?

WHAT'S GOING ON WITH JAPAN? Several people have asked me if we have heard anything about travel to Japan.  We were told that we have our Certificate of Eligibility which is required prior to receiving a Visa. We have not heard anything from the mission office as to when this will take place.  We wait...... We are working 6 hours a day reading journals and history documents at the Church History Library. (Fred is reading them in Japanese kanji. Impressive!!)   Our job is to help prepare documents for release to the public.  We also work with Japan 1-2 hours in the evening via Zoom.  Fred is functioning as the Financial Secretary.  I am serving as the Office Secretary and the Mission Health Advisor.  We also participate with the missionaries in Japan 3x a week in the middle of the night.  Therefore, we are often tired.πŸ’€  It is not unusual to find me taking a catnap around 1:30 in the Library because I was moonlighting with the missionaries the night before.  I just lay my head on th

"Behold the Wounds in Jesus' hands"

We spent the last few days listening to the prophet and apostles speak in our semi-annual conference.  I think it is interesting that each person receives the spiritual message that they need at this time in their life.  I spoke to Fred, my mom, and my daughter Kimberly.  Each person had different things that stood out to them as they listened.  The prophet encouraged us to build a strong foundation in Jesus Christ so that when the hard times come we can face the difficulties of life.  I have been striving to grow closer to Christ by studying his life and teachings from the scriptures.  I can feel my testimony growing as I strive to understand Him better. A BYU choir sang in the Saturday evening session, "Behold the Wounds in Jesus' hands". This song really touched my heart.
